So here is my situation: I currently own a 2003 Toyota Matrix that I make payments on. In between the payments and the insurance and gas, it costs about $350 a month to have that car. For the last couple years I've been really interested in getting a motorcycle, specifically a newer Kawasaki. According to my research, I could find a Kawasaki Ninja 250cc for somewhere around $3000. My question is basically how much insurance do I need? Right now I have comprehensive coverage for my car so that if I'm in a wreck and it's totaled I can replace it. If I had a bike AND my car though, I don't want replacement coverage for a secondary vehicle (even one as cool as a motorcycle). I've just passed my test. But, the next thing is a car, but the main problem is the insurance... They keep saying this is illegal and called fronting and if anything happened the insurance companies would look for anyway to not pay up. If I crashed, or the police pulled me for some reason then I would be insured, so what could they do? Do you think my parents are being awkward about it, and what can I say to make them think otherwise? So I was recently given a citation during a trip to Northern California. Here's the condensed version; I went out with a group of friends to have dinner and drinks. It was about 10 people altogether, three car loads. I was originally not one of the drivers (I flew in from Southern California). Several of my friends/acquiantances drank heavily during dinner. I was asked as a favor to drive one of the car and the car owner's home. The car I drove belonged to my good friend's neighbor. Ok so me and my dad have been working on this unfinished beach buggy project (now almost done maybe a month more). Can a landlord require me to carry renter's insurance?

I didn't hear about this until after I filled out a rental application. Evidently, I am required to have renter's insurance before I move in. In view of the fact that I have almost nothing of value, renter's insurance seems pointless to me, even if it is cheap. This has been more common in the last few years. Beginning about 10 years ago, landlords started this practice of requiring renter's insurance. IMHO, it's just a way of reducing the insurance costs for the landlord.
